Volunteer of the year is the person that not only motivates our
kids but also the other volunteers. During the year there was no
doubt that the most poignent and touching symbol of our purpose
was depicted in a wall hanging quilt. The artist & designer
is Betsy Schapp of Cincinnati, Ohio.
We
wish to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Kids
In Need Volunteer of the Year 2002 Betsy A. Schapp.

About the Quilt and Artist:
Thoughts
as I designed and made K.I.N. quilt:
My first objective was a good design using pleasing
distribution of of lights and darks and, "happy" colors. Second I went to use recognizable objects that
children and adults of all ages could relate to. Third there needed to be things in the design that evoked feelings of
lights, comfort and protection. and fourth, as
i progress in the sewing process and the heart theme seemed to be
prevelent, I decided to make it a game to find all the hearts in
the quilt. Hint: some are hidden! the total hearts in the qulit
are 99. Most of all i want you to enjoy it - and
smile.
